A nearly daily update of energy-related news:

  • Robert Kaplan, president and CEO of the Dallas Federal Reserve Bank of Texas, stated that he is confident in the state’s overall economy and believes the outlook is promising. Speaking at a World Affairs Council meeting in Houston earlier this month, Kaplan stated “We are the largest exporter in the world that’s been true for a long time. But we also are a magnet. Part of that growth has been we are a magnet for people and firms that are coming to Houston, Dallas, San Antonio, Austin, and that trend is continuing.”
  • The House of Representatives passed a $32.1 billion spending bill funding the Interior Department and environmental programs and includes measures to limit the EPA’s oversight of power plants. Republicans said the bill would help to stop unnecessary and damaging overreach with Rep. Ken Calvert (R-Calif.) stating, “There is a great deal of concern over the number of regulatory actions being pursued by EPA in the absence of legislation and without clear congressional direction.”
