National Volunteer Month at EFH, Luminant and TXU Energy

Upcoming volunteer activities

On April 9, EFH, Luminant and TXU Energy employees who are looking for a way to give back during National Volunteer Month will have two fun and worthwhile options to choose from.

Live-Invite-FINAL5-smallAt LIVE! In The Park – hosted by the United Way of Metropolitan Dallas and co-sponsored by EFH, Luminant and TXU Energy – our volunteers will lead fitness activities to promote healthy lifestyles to members of the community. Be on the lookout for our employees, who will be helping out with beach ball bowling, egg and spoon balancing, a boot camp and yoga. At the end of the day, event guests and our volunteers will be able to stay for an evening concert with season 7 winner of The Voice, Craig Wayne Boyd.

Additionally, on April 9, we’ll be volunteering with the National Association of Free and Charitable Clinics to help provide basic medical care to members of the community who have little or no access to health care. Volunteers will help lead patients through the clinic, help register other volunteers and hand out t-shirts.

As National Volunteer Month continues, our employees will also have the opportunity to volunteer at Goodwill Industries of Dallas and at Irving Cares. They will sort donated items at the Goodwill warehouse and stock the Irving Cares food pantry.

In our family of companies, we understand the importance that volunteering has for the community and for our employees. Studies have shown that 78 percent of people who volunteer say that it helps to lower their stress levels, 96 percent say it enriches their sense of purpose in life and 95 percent say it helps to make their community a better place. EFH and TXU Energy’s Community Time Off program encourages each employee to take advantage of up to eight hours of time off annually during work hours to volunteer at a school or charity of their choice.

EIA CollageEnergy in Action, our corporate-wide volunteer program is designed to support our existing spirit of volunteerism, facilitate and encourage more opportunities to give back to the communities we serve and recognize employees for their dedication to helping others. In 2015, we logged 4,800 volunteer hours and volunteered at more than 50 events. You’ll be able to recognize our Energy in Action volunteers by their light blue Energy in Action t-shirts and their volunteer spirit!
