A nearly daily update of energy-related news:
- A report released by the EIA and Bentek Energy shows that natural gas consumption in the electric power sector has been higher this winter than in any other winter. From November 1, 2015 through February 8, 2016, the sector used an average of 25.0 Bcf/d, up from the same period last year of 21.4 Bcf/d.
- Almost half of all U.S. solar capacity is in California. In total, the U.S. had over 20,000 MW of solar capacity at the end of November 2015; California made up 9,976 MW of that total. The state of Texas is ranked in the top 15 states for generating solar electricity.
