Engineers play a critical role at Luminant and to recognize their numerous contributions, we’re celebrating National Engineers Week. Over the next few days, look for articles and social media posts highlighting our talented engineers and their industry-leading engineering projects that help us power Texas.
The importance of STEM fields at Luminant cannot be overlooked, as they are at the core of everything we do. In order to generate more than 13,700 megawatts of generation for the state, we rely on the sharpest and brightest engineers who have a strong passion for engineering. We have also worked with the next generation of engineers through a Dallas ISD engineering robotics competition to share our engineering expertise, along with problem solving and teamwork skills.
Luminant Power Optimization Center Thermal Performance Engineer, Colt Smith says “I chose to be an engineer for the challenge and creativity it allows. What challenges me, and excites me, about Luminant is the ever changing conditions of the energy market that keeps us on our toes.”
Crystal Bennett (Turner) started working with Luminant as an intern and is now a Support Services Engineer. She says “You have the ability to learn a lot from a lot of people that have a lot of experience. You basically have the control; it’s up to you how far up you want to enhance your career. The doors are wide open.”
Keep an eye on our social media channels (listed below) to see how our engineers play a part in powering Texas.
