A nearly daily update of energy-related news:
- Scientists at the EPA are reviewing their preliminary findings regarding the safety of drinking water exposed to fracking. Members of the EPA Science Advisory Board want clarification on the main conclusion of the study: “that there’s no evidence fracking has led to ‘widespread, systemic impacts on drinking water.’” The scientific panel leading the review will release their initial recommendations later this month.
- There is strong steady growth predicted for the solar industry as far as the 2020s thanks in part to the five year extension and a measured decline of the federal investment tax credit that is now in place. The extension Congress passed will drive down the installed cost of solar by 40 percent making it more cost-effective than fossil-generated electricity.
