- ERCOT reports that wind energy provided a record 45 percent of electricity on December 20, 2015. The grid remained stable despite the influx of wind energy thanks in part to the state’s natural gas generation which can adjust its output. The state of Texas had the most installed wind capacity at the end Q3 2015 than any other state with more than 16,000 MW installed.
- In 2015, China’s natural gas production grew by 2.9 percent, the slowest growth the country has seen in the past 10 years. Production reached 127.1 bcm in 2015 and was approximately 123.5 bcm in 2014.
- Researches are examining if personal storage batteries will help ease the strain placed on Germany’s national grid from an inundation of renewable energy. Surveys show that about 33 percent of German consumers will have a battery storage system in their home by 2030 thanks to the help of government subsidies.
