ERCOT reports 2.2 percent annual growth; IRENA Report predicts increased GDP

A nearly daily update of energy-related news:

  • ERCOT reports that more than 2.2 percent more electricity was used in 2015 than in 2014. This additional 348 million MW of power was due in part to a record-breaking summer that included four new record demand peaks.  In 2014, ERCOT reported 340 million MW used.
  • The latest IRENA Report states that a global gross domestic product of $1.3 trillion could be achieved if renewable energy made up 36 percent of the global energy mix by 2030. This is more than the combined economies of Chile, South Africa and Switzerland.
