- Fuelfix reports that the Dow Chemical Co. and DuPont will consolidate to form DowDuPont. Together, these two companies are worth nearly $130 billion in combined market capitalization. The initial merger is set to close in the second half of 2016 with an expected completion date of 2018. DowDuPont will have dual headquarters in Midland, Michigan and Wilmington, Delaware.
- Ikea, the world’s largest furniture retailer, will buy 1-2 wind farms to help it reach its goal to produce as much electricity as it uses by 2020. As of August 2015, the company already produces roughly 53 percent of its energy consumption. The wind farms will help Ikea increase this number to 76 percent.
