Building a better tomorrow for Texans a focus of company's commitment to communities

uw-bythenumbers-2015Our company is rooted in the traditions of Texas and close community ties. That’s why we support the growth and quality of life of all Texans with strong relationships with, and generous donations of time and resources to, local organizations that help change lives.

Our annual United Way and TXU Energy Aid campaign is tangible evidence of that priority.

Last year, we put $2.1 million and 1,900 employee volunteer hours to work in Texas communities, supporting more than 100 programs that provide Texans access to educational, financial and health resources. This year, the people of EFH, Luminant and TXU Energy were honored to partner with United Way of Metropolitan Dallas to help Silence the Growl by ensuring every at-risk student at a Plano elementary school received healthy meals all summer. We also joined in celebrating the agency’s 90 years of changing lives and were proud of our employee volunteers who were recognized for volunteering thousands of hours promoting literacy.

Today, on North Texas Giving Day, we’re in the heart of our 2015 United Way/TXU Energy Aid campaign. Employees across the company are competing to raise funds in chili cook-offs, bake sales, softball and volleyball tournaments and other activities, and are giving of their time to assemble supply kits for new moms and birthday boxes for at-risk children.

Putting the fun in fundraising has become a tradition. Since 2000, EFH and its employees have contributed more than $26 million to United Way organizations across the state. And since 1983, TXU Energy Aid has generated nearly $90 million in bill-payment assistance for more than 478,000 customers.

In addition to United Way, the people of EFH companies put their Energy In Action to generously support Red Cross disaster relief efforts with a $25,000 donation for spring storm aid, and find creative ways to contribute to causes and communities throughout the year.
