More states repeal renewable energy mandates; Some presidential candidates ready to ignore climate change regs

POV: Power Breakfast

A nearly daily round-up of news for your consideration:

  • More states are repealing their renewable-energy mandates citing higher electricity prices and related impacts on local economies, according to The Wall Street Journal. Legislation that would have repealed Texas’ renewable portfolio standard was passed by the state Senate in April, but the bill was not advanced out of the House.
  • “Some Republican governors who are running for president are threatening to ignore Environmental Protection Agency regulations likely coming this summer that would limit power plant emissions,” The Washington Post writes. Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker and Indiana Gov. Bobby Jindal are among the most vocal resistors.
