Approaching an Anniversary

Today marks a milestone in the history of Comanche Peak Nuclear Power Plant's Unit 1

On July 13, 1990, Comanche Peak Nuclear Power Plant Unit 1 first reached 100 percent power level. Just a few weeks later, the unit would officially deliver electricity to the state’s power grid.

Check our Instagram for more milestones, and test your knowledge of how Comanche Peak powers Texas, as we approach the unit’s 25th anniversary.

Though construction on Comanche Peak Nuclear Power Plant’s unit 1 reactor began in 1974, years of delays meant the plant would make electricity for the first time in the summer of 1990.
