This summer, students at Meadows Elementary in Plano aren’t filling their backpacks with homework. Instead ,they’re bringing home a weekend’s worth of healthy food every Friday.
Thanks to the generosity of EFH, Luminant and TXU Energy employees, 1,500 backpacks and nearly $10,000 are feeding every at-risk student at Meadows Elementary for the entire summer.
Students receiving the food make up some of the 260,000 North Texas children who are qualified to receive free and reduced priced meals during the school year. However, when students are out of school for the summer, they may not be able to count on these meals from one day to the next.
