- The Environmental Protection Agency set an August deadline to issue its final rule on carbon emissions, and also expects to rule on how the agency will handle states that refuse to develop Clean Power Plan compliance strategies, Utility Dive reports. The White House also indicated it expects rules on emissions from the oil and gas sector to be finalized in about a year.
- Some 5.8 megawatts of energy storage systems were installed in the U.S. in the first quarter of 2015, with 72 percent of those installations directly helping utilities or grid operators maintain supply and demand, according to a Forbes report on a new study by GTM Research and Energy Storage Association. By 2018, the report expects commercial and residential systems to account for a much larger percentage of installations.
