Salute to a Sailor

Luminant accountant receives top honors for second career in Navy Reserves

George DeLaRosa, a full-time member of Luminant’s Accounting team, recently earned top honors for his other job in the U.S. Navy Reserves. Petty Officer DeLaRosa was chosen over 454 sailors to be named Senior Sailor of the Year for the Naval Supply Regional Command.  The award is bestowed on a reliable sailor who personifies the Navy’s core values.

A 17-year member of the service, DeLaRosa credits his mentors for “believing in me and showing me the way.” He now dedicates time to motivating his fellow shipmates, as well as mentoring a former active Navy sailor as part of Luminant’s participation in the American Corporate Partners national veteran mentoring program.

Helping veterans with their career development and transition to civilian life is one of the ways DeLaRosa and the people of EFH, Luminant and TXU Energy – 15 percent of whom are veterans themselves – show appreciation to those who balance commitments to company and country.

Early next year, DeLaRosa will compete against four other sailors for Senior Sailor of the Year for the entire U.S. Navy Reserves.
