The people of EFH, Luminant and TXU Energy are lighting the way to a brighter holiday season, contributing more than $2.1 million to United Way and TXU Energy Aid.
Employee and corporate campaign contributions from 2014 will benefit more than 20 United Way chapters across Texas and keep the lights on for families in crisis through TXU Energy Aid.
“Thanks to the generosity of our people, we’ve once again surpassed our campaign goal,” said Danielle Cooper, the 2014 United Way/TXU Energy Aid campaign chair. “Our company has a long history with United Way and TXU Energy Aid, and every year I’m thrilled at the new energy our people bring to each campaign and their enthusiasm for getting involved and making a lasting impact in our Texas communities.”
Supporting United Way’s focus areas of education, income and health, our people volunteered more than 1,900 hours during the campaign at service agencies and organizations – including refurbishing The Salvation Army’s transitional housing center for veterans in Dallas – to help change lives in Texas.
“With the tremendous support of Energy Future Holdings, United Way is forever changing lives,” said Jennifer Sampson, president and CEO of United Way of Metropolitan Dallas. “Thanks to their boundless generosity, we’ve improved local graduation rates from 40 percent to over 60 percent, and helped get 70,000 people on a pathway out of poverty. Together, we are making North Texas the very best place to live, work and raise a family. We are so proud to celebrate nine decades of impactful service with EFH this year.”
EFH and the people across our businesses have contributed more than $27 million to some 22 United Way organizations since 2000. Additionally, for more than 30 years, TXU Energy Aid has served as an integral resource for social service agencies that assist families in need, helping more than 455,000 customers across Texas pay their electricity bills.
