  • A House bill would increase states’ power in overseeing water-related permits for coal industry development. According to The Hill, the bill would require the Environmental Protection Agency to write new analyses and hold more public hearings.
  • EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy Thursday named natural gas a “great transition” fuel and said it remains part of the President’s multi-faceted power plan, Forbes reports. From the article:

    “Natural gas in the U.S. has been a game changer,” she said. “The abundance of low-cost natural gas has really started an energy transition that we are taking advantage of and hoping to follow through our 111D process. So it’s been a significant benefit to the United States. It’s been a significant benefit to air quality.”

  • The Globalist examines the similarities in Texas’ and Germany’s energy markets, including largely deregulated competitive markets and ongoing renewable energy debates.
