Flags for fallen heroes

In recognition of Memorial Day, the people of EFH, Luminant and TXU Energy and their families placed flags on the graves of fallen veterans Sunday at DFW National Cemetery.

They joined the more than 6,500 volunteers placing some 230,000 American flags at three national cemeteries in DFW, Houston and Florida. This is the third year Flags for Fallen Vets has organized the event honoring those who served our country.

“Memorial Day is a chance to give thanks to those who protect the freedoms we so readily enjoy, and to express our appreciation to our colleagues who have served their country or are currently serving on active duty,” EFH CEO John Young said. “About 15 percent of our workforce is comprised of veterans of the armed forces, and I am sure there are many more of our employees who have family members and friends who have served our country. The leadership team and I thank you –and them – for your past and current service.”
