  • The Electric Reliability Council of Texas expects to start the summer with tight electricity reserves but anticipates four new natural gas plants will come online in time to reduce the likelihood of scarce power or rolling blackouts, the Dallas Business Journal reports. Peak demand this summer is expected to come close to breaking the all-time record set in August 2011.
  • Solar was the second largest source of new electricity generating capacity in the U.S. last year, says Clean Technica.

“As solar continues along its path toward the mainstream, its integration with the broader electricity market from a technical, market, and regulatory perspective will become one of the most important issues in the industry.”
