- Coal plants within the Electric Reliability Council of Texas service area generated 29.3 million megawatt hours of electricity in the fourth quarter of 2013, the Dallas Business Journal reports. Texas led the nation in coal consumption in the same period, burning about 23 million tons of coal.
- Texas led the nation in job growth in January, adding 33,900 jobs, the Dallas Morning News reports, with utilities, trade and transportation driving about 7,600 jobs.
