How a simple question led to $1 million in bill payment assistance for Round Rock area families


Twenty-seven years ago, then Round Rock Area Serving Center Board Treasurer John Guiling asked a question that continues to impact families in the Central Texas area. He wanted to know how dollars donated through electricity bills were distributed to families in need. That question sparked more than $1 million in aid for TXU Energy customers in that area.

Guiling was recognized Wednesday by the Serving Center and TXU Energy for his service to Central Texas families. Now working as an agency volunteer, he has been tracking TXU Energy contributions over the years and recently learned that TXU Energy contributions have surpassed the $1 million mark.
