- A new report released by ICF International projects that 2014 will be coal producers’ weakest year before demand begins to increase and then plateau. As Fuel Fix reports, ICF expects natural gas prices, which play an important role in preventing construction of new coal power plants, are not likely to eliminate coal demand at existing U.S. coal power plants over the next 10 years.
- A new web-based app released by the White House aims to use climate science data to help Americans see how projected climate change might impact their communities. The New York Times reports the site, climate.data.gov, is the administration’s latest step in building a case for highly debated regulations to cut carbon pollution that would shutter hundreds of coal-fired power plants.
